The tome contains the papers presented at the conference Limits of the Knowledge Society which took place in Iasi, October 2010. The Conference was organized by the Romanian Academy - Iasi branch and Gh. Zane Institute of Economic and Social Researches, as part of the POSDRU project Knowledge Based Society – researches, debates, perspectives. The Project is co-financed from the European Social Fund via the Operational Sectoral Programme for the Development of the Human Resources 2007 – 2013, and sustains the training of young researchers who specialize in philosophy, social, humanistic or exact sciences.
The papers included in the current tome have been presented within the following sections of the conference: Anthropology and Cultural Studies and Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy.They focused on the analysis of the diversity and cultural change, migration, ethnicity, ideology, governance and democracy, globalization and geopolitics, ethical values, religious beliefs and practices. The papers also focused on the way in which the subjects mentioned before evolve inside the knowledge society, with a special stress upon its limits.
