This book deals with the most important component of an educational reform - teachers professional development. It is construct to became a real debate about the quality issue involved by the teachers training dimension. It is a collection of over 15 articles - theoretical or empirical studies - elaborated under this very actual topic. The volume includes case studies, practical ongoing or ended works which are trying to reveal the essential elements of the theme - pre-service and in-service teacher education from the different european countries contextualised perspectives. There are presented useful experiences from european universities and educational institutions (Finland, France, Italy, Great Britain, Romania etc) under the goal of identifying a coherent theoretical background or a common professional development paradigm.
Starting from principles and values involved by teaching all over the world, the book is trying to make a great progress in underlying some strategic conclusions for the Teacher Education Politics.
This issue of Teachers Professional Development was considered to be very important for the editors and this volume it is the main product of a partnership signed between three important educational and research institutions: Romanian Academy, Iasi Branch, Gh.Zane Economic and Social Research Institute, which are the coordinators of a HR European Project for Postdoctoral research - POSDRU project no. 56815 - and the Psychology and Educational Sciences Department, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iasi.
The volume is a result of a strong collaboration between romanian and foreign researchers and university teachers and we hope that it will became a pleasant lecture and, in the same time a very useful one under the idea of Educational Politics Interventions.
